An under construction Railways flyover on Sunday collapsed near Bhubaneswar’s Bomikhal. Times of India reports that two persons are feared killed and 10 labourers engaged in the construction work sustained injuries. The newspaper reported locals as saying that two persons are suspected to have been trapped in the debris. Rescue operations are currently on and state government has dispatched several teams of fire fighting personnel, along with the Odisha disaster rapid action force to counter the situation. DCP Satyabrata Bhoi told TOI that police are monitoring the situation closely and injured workers have been rushed to Capital Hospital. He added that police is not sure about casualties in the accident.
Odisahatv.in, citing some reports, says that the flyover project was under Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division-4 and was being executed by Panda Infrastructure. As per the report, Works Secretary Nalinikant Pradhan has asked two senior engineers to visit the spot and conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident. Speaking to the Odisha TV, Pradhan said that action will be taken against those found responsible for any negligence.
