Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu manages a lot of things, but this one is not easily navigable. Flagging off a soon-to-be-launched train in Uttar Pradesh has triggered a virtual tug of war among BJP leaders in the state. The Gorakhpur-Gomti Nagar Express is scheduled to be flagged off on August 14. Earlier, it was believed that BJP MP Jagdambika Pal will flag off the train from Naogarh station in his constituency, Domariyaganj, as he has been demanding the train for long. However, now Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath has also expressed his interest in flagging off the train from his constituency, according to The Indian Express.
Prabhu’s office is now wondering whom to satisfy. Not heeding to the request of one will be like hurting the ego of another. As the election fever catches up with the state, more such requests may come in Prabhu’s way. Interestingly, Pal supports Adityanath for CM’s post in the state. Last month he had said that the controversial Gorakhpur MP is a “perfect” candidate for the CM’s post in the state. The state will go to polls early next year and the BJP has kept everyone guessing about its CM candidate. Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Adityanath have been rumored to be leading the race for the post.
