In an effort to build an alliance with Samajwadi Party, Rahul Gandhi has asked Samajwadi party that congress may consider joining hands with them, provided Akhilesh Yadav becomes the face of the party. According to the sources, Rahul Gandhi is seeking Akhilesh Yadav’s face for the party to appeal to the youth of the people and to maintain congress’s USP – that is- the party of the young. Rahul Gandhi has apparently conveyed his thoughts to top Samajwadi Party leaders and has made the fact clear that the Grand Alliance would only be possible if the party speaks in one voice for Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership.
The message was delivered in the meeting held between Prashant Kishore, Congress’s Uttar Pradesh stratergist and Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday. The meeting, according to the sources was also attended by Akhilesh Yadav’s arch enemy, Amar Singh, Samajwadi Party’s MP. Akhilesh Yadav had recently referred to him as a ‘Dalal’ and had held him responsible for the family feud.
After Congress’s “Ekla Chalo” plan was dropped by the party. It is working hard towards making an alliance and finding its lost stand. Congress is working towards an alliance between SP, Congress, RLD, JD(U) to take the fight head on with BJP and Mayawati’s BSP.
