Uttar Pradesh power minister, Shrikant Sharma on Saturday commented on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Saharanpur and said that the Congress Vice President and his company were frustrated, ANI reported. Speaking to reporters, Sharma further said that Rahul Gandhi was a “tragedy tourist” and the Congress VP travelled everywhere there was a tragedy. Earlier in the day, Gandhi, along with the leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior leader Raj Babbar reached Saharanpur. Speaking to ANI, Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unemployment and the crisis in Jammu and Kashmir. Gandhi said that he was going back due to the instructions by the administration but will return to the village, once the problem was solved.
Rahul Gandhi said that the Bhartiya Janata Party government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had failed on law and order in the state. He said that everybody, who was not powerful was scared, which was not a way to run the country, he added. Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Vice President said that Jammu and Kashmir was burning. The Congress had managed to bring peace in the valley but PM Narendra Modi was providing footholds for treasonists in Kashmir.
Rahul Gandhi said, “There’s no place for Dalits and poor in the country, they are being suppressed, this is happening in the entire country. (Aaj ke Hindustan mein gareeb, kamzoor ke liye jagah nahi hai, Daliton ko dabaya ja rha hai, ye puray Hinudustan mein ho raha hai)”. Sahranpur has been a region of widespread cased-based violence. Earlier last month, the first reported incident of violence had taken place during a procession to mark the Ambedkar Jayanti. According to reports, on May 5, one person had been killed and 15 had been reported injured in the clashes.
