Rahul Gandhi and Manish Sisodia of the Congress and the AAP respectively orchestrated a political drama at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi that would make many doubt their intentions. It is obvious that politicians do everything with a single motive — politics. When they today went to meet the kin of deceased ex-servicemen Ram Kishan Grewal, who committed suicide, at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, political gain ahead of crucial state assembly elections was written in bold on their move. Though they claimed that they just wanted to meet the kin of the deceased.
From when politicians in the country have started meeting families of suicide victims in good faith? Every time they do it, it is just for politics.
Ironically no party, even BJP, wants to let go of any opportunity to score some brownie points. But do they really gain? What happened today at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital was unfortunate. The Congress and the AAP leaders could have chosen other location or time for their politics. But a hospital?
Police were right in detaining Rahul Gandhi and Manish Sisodia at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Here’s why
Rahul Gandhi, Manish Sisodia endangered patients’ lives at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital
The Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi is one of the most important healthcare centres for Delhi residents. And every day, around 7,000 patients visit the hospital. By making the hospital their political battleground, the leaders and their supporters affected the normal functioning of the hospital, affecting patients and staff.
Medical Superintendent of RML Hospital AK Gadpayle said the leaders were affecting the normal functioning of the hospital. “I cannot understand why there is so much police in the hospital. Also, why so many people are coming to the hospital since morning. This is obstructing us from performing our duties,” he told reporters.
The spokesperson of the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, VK Sinha, said that Grewal’s body was brought to the hospital at 1 am on Wednesday and shifted to Lady Hardinge at 5.30 am for the post mortem. “With so many people visiting here, it is causing a lot of inconvenience to patients,” he was quoted as saying by IANS.
From morning, a number of politicians started visiting the hospital. Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to enter the hospital, while Manish Sisodia was detained from inside the hospital.
Delhi police’s special commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena said Rahul Gandhi was detained for trying to enter the hospital even as they were advised otherwise. “It is a hospital and not a place for the demonstration. Rahul Gandhi detained at Mandir Marg Police Station for ‘disruption of duty’,” he said, adding, “Democracy doesn’t mean creating obstructions. Leaders must also understand that hospital is not the place to hold any demonstrations.” he added.
