The hacking of official Twitter accounts of the Indian National Congress and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi has surprised many. The hackers also posted messages laden with expletives. The party has claimed political vendetta behind the hacking. However, no guesses can be made about people involved in the hacking conspiracy for now. The hacking does expose the vulnerability of online assets.

Rahul Gandhi’s official Twitter account was hacked first and obscene remarks were put out online for around an hour. The Congress party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has filed a complaint in this regard with the Cyber cell of Delhi Police. The Congress has also raised questions on the digital safety of all Indians. Surjewala said the hacking reflects disturbing insecurities of the prevalent “fascist culture” in the country.

It is certainly wrong and illegal to hack anyone’s online account. While the police would take their time in probing the case, Twitterati can’t stop making some hilarious guesses about the possible password of the hacked accounts. Many of them are having a ball at the expense of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Here are some of the tweets:

News about bank robberies never deter us from using bank & cash but After Rahul Gandhi account hacked INC thinks we will ditch #DigitalIndia

Commenting on the twin hacking incidents, Surjewala said, “Such lowly tactics will neither drown the sane voice of reason nor deter Rahul Gandhi from raising people’s issues.”

“Such unscrupulous, unethical and roguish conduct of venal trolls to hack Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter handle reflects disturbing insecurities of prevalent fascist culture,” he added.
