Training guns at the Central Government, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unrest in Jammu and Kashmir and rising unemployment in the country. Rahul Gandhi, who was speaking to reporters at riot-hit Saharanpur, said that Narendra Modi did false promises of bringing employment in the country.
“Jammu & Kashmir is burning, we had brought peace in Kashmir, Narendra Modi ji is providing a foothold to treasonists in J&K. (J&K jal raha hai, hum shaanti laaye thay J&K mein, jo deshdrohi shaktiyan hain unko Narendra Modiji J&K mein foothold de rahe hain),” Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying by ANI.
“Government has failed on law & order in UP. Everybody in country who is not powerful is scared & this is not the way to run a country,” Gandhi said.
“There’s no place for Dalits and poor in the country, they are being supressed, this is happening in the entire country. (Aaj ke Hindustan mein gareeb, kamzoor ke liye jagah nahi hai, Daliton ko dabaya ja rha hai, ye puray Hinudustan mein ho raha hai),” Gandhi added.
According to ANI, Rahul Gandhi also added, “I am going back on administrations instructions, as soon as the problem will be solved, they will take me to the village (Mujhe administration ne kaha hai isliye main wapas ja rha hun, jaise hi yahan samasya theek hogi wo mujhe gaaon mein le jaayenge).
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Saharanpur region in Uttar Pradesh even though he was denied permission from the district authorities. The region has seen widespread caste-based clashes recently. Last month, an incident of violence had broken out in Saharanpur following a procession to mark Ambedkar Jayanti.
On May 5, one person was killed and 15 had been injured in clashes between two communities. Centre and Uttar Pradesh government have kept close vigil in the area since then. Centre has sent more than 400 anti-riot police personnel to Saharanpur to help the state restore peace in the region.
