Rahul Gandhi in Mandsaur: Congress vice president on Wednesday will be travelling to Mandsaur by road after he was denied permission to travel by helicopter.

Rahul Gandhi in Mandsaur: Congress vice president on Wednesday will be travelling to Mandsaur by road after he was denied permission to travel by helicopter. Earlier it was reported that Gandhi wanted to visit the family of the 6 deceased farmers and wanted to be part of their funerals, but was not allowed to do so by the state administration. Congress party general secretary Mohan Prakash told ANI, “Rahul Gandhi wanted to visit deceased farmers’ village to take part in funeral but the administration didn’t permit”.

Prakash also claimed that false information was being paraded around about the Congress Vice President’s participation in the farmers’ agitation in Madhya Pradesh. He said, “Wrong information being spread that he would participate in farmers’ agitation”. Meanwhile, ANI reports that agitation has further intensified today as farmers have started torching vehicles. The farmers who have been demanding the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also entered into a tussle with the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police.

The district collector Swatantra Singh reacted to the incident and told ANI, “There was no order to open fire, I have assured them (farmers) of strict action in the matter”. Meanwhile, there have been conflicting reports about curfews being imposed in the regions, but internet services have definitely been suspended. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also spoken to BJP president Amit Shah on the situation in Mandsaur on phone, the ANI report further added.
