Punjab: High alert has been sounded by authorities in Pathankot. The high alert was sounded after a suspicious bag containing 3 uniforms was found. The army and SWAT teams of the Punjab Police are conducting search operations in the highly sensitive area. Till now no further details have been made available. A police official told the Indian Express that, ”Three army uniforms with Jammu written on them have been recovered. The bag was found stuffed inside a gunny bag”.

Earlier this month two bags were recovered from close to Mamun Cantonment near Pathankot according to an NDTV report. Two mobile battery were recovered from the bags as per the report.

Punjab Police had launched a massive search, in early May, after three men went missing after abandoning a robbed SUV at a village in Pathankot. Pathankot SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said that the three men were not dressed in army or police uniforms as was the case with the 2015 Gurdaspur terror attack, according to the Indian Express.

Three terrorists wearing army fatigues hijacked a car and stormed a police station in Dinanagar town of Gurdaspur district in July 2015. Seven people, including a Superintendent of Police, were killed in that operation.

Four terrorists from across the border had sneaked into the Pathankot Air Force Base on the intervening night of January 1 and 2 last year. The terror attack had claimed the lives of seven security personnel and the four terrorists, according to the Indian Express.
