The SAD government in Punjab never opposed the film ‘Udta Punjab’ and was also not aware of how the film had portrayed the state, its finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said today.
“I have no comment to make on the film. The Punjab government has never opposed the movie,” Dhindsa told reporters on the sidelines of a meet on GST here.
“We are not aware how Punjab is portrayed in the film. It is between the CBFC and the producer and director,” he said.
The film, slated for release on June 17, has kicked up a storm with the Central Board of Film Certification allegedly asking the makers to remove all references to Punjab and make 89 cuts.
Subsequently, the film’s producer and director moved Bombay High Court opposing the cuts. The court asked CBFC to clear the film with just a single cut.
