Raj Babbar, actor turned politician Congress on Friday claimed that their election strategist Prashant Kishor’s meeting with Samajwadi Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was a personal visit and had nothing do with the proposed secular alliance. Babbar even claimed that Kishor had not been hired as the party’s poll strategist. Speaking to IE, he said that Kishor was not the strategist of the party but had been roped in to take the ideology of the party and what it stands for in an effective manner using modern technology during the polls. He said that it was their workers who work at the grassroots levels and with Kishor’s technological advancement, the workers remain clarified as to what roles they ned to play. When asked about Kishor’s meeting with the SP chief, he said that there were no talks of any alliance. He further stated that even Kishor clarified that his meeting was a personal one, so there was no point raising questions.

Although, he made it a point to mention that the Congress party is still open to any possibility that could benefit the people of Uttar Pradesh. When asked about if the Congress party had received an invitation from the SP for its silver jubilee function on Saturday, Babbar said that he was unaware if any senior leader was coming to the state to attend the event. When asked about if he would attend the function if invited, he said that he would welcome it and ask the party leadership about what needs to be done. He said that he has always respected Mulayam Singh Yadav as he is still active in politics due to the Sp chief and hence would always bow before him.

On being asked about Priyanka Gandhi’s participation in UP elections, he said that she had been requested and the lady had promised she would be available for campaigning; although, how much time she could be able to give is yet to be discussed. On being asked about if the Congress party would finally come to power in the state after 27 long years,he said that he was confident in the people’s choices, who he believes would vote for development.
