Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated defence minister Manohar Parrikar for his skillful decisions and stable administrative ability on Sunday. On the occasion of speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of Greenfield airport at Mopa, the PM called the former Chief Minister of Goa a bright gem of his government and thanked the state for giving such an able colleague.
“When we speak of Akbar, we speak of his Navaratna (nine jewels), whose expertise Akbar sought to run the administration. I am grateful to have so many gems on my team and Manohar Parrikar is among the brightest of them,” The Indian Express quoted PM Modi.
The PM further said as CM of Gujarat, he always monitored development schemes introduced by Parrikar in the state. Targeting earlier ruling party of Goa, he said, “Unlike earlier governments with uncertain political tenure, Parrikar brought a stable administration and a change in the political culture of the state. The One Rank One Pension issue was resolved after 40 years by Manohar Parrikar.” He lauded efforts of Parrikar and said that “now we are taking quick decisions, safeguarding India’s interests. Not one person can point fingers on the functioning of Parrikar.”
It is to be known that Goa, 40-member House, is heading for elections in the year 2017.
