Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked Sartaj Aziz about his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during Heart of Asia Summit in Punjab’s Amritsar. Sartaj Aziz also exchanged Pakistan’s PM greetings with Modi, CNN TV 18 reported. However, there is still no clarification about any bilateral talks between India and Pakistan in sidelines of the summit. Earlier, Ministry of External Affairs, in a press briefing, had said that no request for bilateral talks have been received from Pakistan side. Sartaj Aziz’s visit to HOA comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan along international borders. India and Pakistani forces are at loggerheads ever since the deadly terrorist attack on army base camp in Uri took place, leaving 19 Army Jawans martyred. On September 29, India conducted surgical strikes across LoC on Pakistan based terror launchpad. Since then, Pakistan has been indulged in heavy shelling and unprovoked firing causing heavy losses to Indian security forces.
