Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, chaired a meet with NSA chief Ajit Doval and Army Chief General Dalbir Singh. The Prime Minister is likely to discuss the turbulence on the India-Pakistan border. Pakistan has been committing ceasefire violations quite regularly across the LoC attacking the Indian territory. Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire and started firing in the Mendhar Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on November 7. This the 101st incident of ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops since India conducted the Surgical strikes on September 29.
Pakistan had opened fire at 9:15 am and it was reported that the Pakistani troops used 120mm mortars, 82 mm mortars, automatics and small arms. The Pak troops had also opened fire earlier this morning at around 8:45 AM in the Nowshera sector of the Rajouri district. No deaths or casualties have been reported yet. Pakistan had also violated ceasefire in the Mankote and Balakote areas of Mendhar district on Monday. Earlier on November 6, two army men had been killed and 5 others were reported seriously injured when the Pakistani army opened fire to facilitate infiltration bids.
Earlier today, The face of India’s Surgical strikes, Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen. Ranbir Singh was appointed as the Corps Commander One Strike Force. It is reported that Lt Gen. Ranbir Singh has been appointed to the post in light of the recent continuous violations of ceasefire across the border by Pakistan.
