A Surat based family who were blessed with three daughters recently named their new borns after the new tax regime Prime Minister Narendra Modi successfully shepherded through Parliament and turned it into reality. According to news agency ANI, the family has named their three new born daughters after initials of Goods & Services Tax (GST), the girls will be called Garavi, Sanchi and Taravi. Kanchan Patel, the mother of the young ones while talking about the names of her daughter said, “PM Narendra Bhai Modi brought in GST – One Tax-One Nation, we were inspired by it & named our daughters after it.” This is not the first time when the new tax regime has inspired people to name their children after it.
A couple of days after the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was launched at the stroke of midnight at the iconic central hall of Parliament, a family in the village of Bihar decided to name their new born daughter who came into the world at 12:02 am on Saturday, July 1, as GST after the new tax regime to mark the roll out of ‘India’s biggest single tax reform to date. The village where the child was named GST is known for families giving newborns the oddest of names, from cycle to court and even coffee, according to Indian Express.
In another case, parents from Chhattisgarh named their daughter ‘GST’ after the launch of One Tax-One Nation reform as she was born on July 1. While talking about the incident, Jagdish Prasad, the father of the child said that the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Goods and Services Tax (GST) reform as a tax revolution on July 1, his daughter was born. So he could not hold his excitement and named her GST to make this day a memorable one.
