PM Narendra Modi congratulates Donald Trump, looking forward to improve India-US bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Donald Trump to be elected as the next President of America and expressed hope to work together in taking forward the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Donald Trump to be elected as the next President of America and expressed hope to work together in taking forward the bilateral ties between the two countries. The Republican nominee, Trump, has been declared as the 45th US President by defeating the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Soon after the declaration, PM Modi turned to social media to congratulate Trump. In his tweet, Modi said, “Congratulations @realDonaldTrump on being elected as the 45th US President.”

In his other tweet, the PM hailed the friendly attitude of Trump towards India during his election campaign. “We appreciate the friendship you have articulated towards India during your campaign, @realDonaldTrump.”, Modi tweeted next.

The PM hoped that India will work closely with the new US president in future. In his last tweet to Trump, Modi mentioned, “We look forward to working with you closely to take India-US bilateral ties to a new height. @realDonaldTrump”.

Donald Trump won the Presidential election today in a stunning victory. He took the key swing states of Florida, North Carolina and Ohio early this morning to occupy the White House. Soon after the results, the newly elected US President addressed the nation. He called him “president for all Americans” and asked every  to come together in making the nation best.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated Trump over his victory and hoped for joint work to improve US-Russian relations, Russian media reported.
