As veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani turns 89, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with BJP president Amit Shah, today, visited his residence to wish him in his birthday. Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister, wishing the BJP veteran, tweeted, “Wishing our inspiration, one of India’s tallest leaders who has served India tirelessly & diligently, Shri LK Advani ji on his birthday. I pray to God that Advani ji is blessed with a long and healthy life.”
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Suresh Prabhu had also delivered their best wishes to Advani through tweets and messages. Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani tweeted, “On his birthday, I extend my heartiest wishes to our guiding light Shri L K Advani ji. Prayers for his good health & long life.”
Starting his career as a volunteer of the Rashtriya Shwayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Advani was the Home Minister of India from 1998 to 2004 and had also been the deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004, under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee rule in the center. Many allege that the senior BJP leader had been sidelined from key decision-making board of the party since the Narendra Modi-government came to power in 2014.
