PM Narendra Modi arrives to meet his mother sans the massive carcade

Clad in an apricot-coloured kurta, PM Modi visited his mother at her residence to seek her blessings on the special day.

When somebody as important as the Prime Minister of India sets out on the streets, his accompanying trail of security cannot be overlooked. However, what can be called a rare sight, PM Modi on the occasion of his 67th birthday, today visited his mother in Gujarat in a car, without being followed by a black carcade. Clad in an apricot-coloured kurta, PM Modi visited his mother at her residence to seek her blessings on the special day.

Tweeting about his brief visit, Modi in Hindi said, मां की ममता, मां का आशीर्वाद जीवन जीने की जड़ी-बूटी होता है।

On Saturday morning, Modi’s schedule is reserved for personal meetings. After meeting his mother Hirabai, who stays with his younger brother Pankaj in Gandhinagar, he will fly to Limkheda in Dahod to address a rally at Arts College ground near Hasteshwar Mahadev temple. He will be greeted by a 67-foot tall cutout of himself, commissioned by the local party unit, which has also prepared a list of 67 programmes to mark his birthday.  Around 3,600 policemen have been deployed in Limkheda for the bandobast. After Limkheda, the PM is scheduled to visit Navsari where he will attend a public function to distribute various kits to over 11,000 disabled persons.

According to sources, prominent personalities like Lata Mangeshkar, Madhuri Dikshit, Amitabh Bachchan, Kailash Kher, P Gopichand, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Vinod Rai, Jagdish Bhagwati, Arvind Panagariya, Sri Sri Ravishankar sent their good wishes to the Prime Minister on the Narendra Modi App.
