PM Modi welcomes counterparts for BRICS summit, hopes to strengthen bilateral ties

As India gears up for hosting the BRICS Summit for the first time ever in Goa from 15-16 October 2016, PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to welcome the guest nations and their representatives.

As India gears up for hosting the BRICS Summit for the first time ever in Goa from 15-16 October 2016, PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to welcome the guest nations and their representatives. In the presence of the BRICS nations, India will push for more global cooperation and ties. Not only the BRICS countries but the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) nations as well.

Modi and his foreign policy team will be aiming for some bigger goals on the agenda of the meet. Regarding the same, Modi wrote that the outreach with the BIMSTEC leaders is significant and he hopes to tap the huge potential for cooperation and the dividends this will bring. Welcoming his counterparts including the President of Brazil Michel Temer, Modi expressed willingness to open new cooperation with Brazil.

”I look forward to useful conversations with leaders from China, South Africa, Brazil & Russia on key global & regional challenges.” he wrote.

Apart from bilateral ties, India will also hold discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation in Syria, Afghanistan and other countries. With India facing a hard time dealing with Pakistan facilitated terrorism activities, this will be one of the key point of discussion amongst the nations.

Adding that the focus will surely be on strengthening the bilateral ties, Modi tweeted ”I look forward to deliberations with leaders of China and South Africa, which will strengthen our bilateral ties with these key partners.”
