People in Pallanwala sector of J&K’s Akhnoor district are being evacuated and taken to safer places after an incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan. Earlier today, Pakistani forces had fired at Indian posts and civilian areas with mortar bombs and heavy machine guns along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor tehsil. No casualties were reported in the firing. The firing started around 3.30 am in the morning and continued till 6 am. As per reports, Indian troops deployed at border effectively retaliated to the attack. Police told media that Pakistani troops targeted Badoo and Chanoo hamlets. “Villagers residing along the LoC were evacuated and shifted to safer places,” a police official said. It seems that Pakistani troops tried to target border residents who were returning to take care of their cattle and homes along the border.
Some houses in Badoo village were hit by bullets fired. This is the fifth violation ceasefire by Pakistani troops along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in the past four days. The Pakistan Army has stepped up cross-border firing after the surgical strikes on September 29 by the India Army to destroy terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. Incidents of ceasefire violations were also reported along LoC in Pallanwala, Chaprial, Samnam areas of Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on Friday.
