With what seems like a never dying debate on the Dalit atrocities across the nation, PM Modi and his govt continue being a target of the opposition parties. Today, the issue was heatedly discussed in the Lok Sabha with parties getting stronger in demanding an explanation from PM Narendra Modi on the increasing cases of violence against Dalits. Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia questioning Modi’s silence on the increasing incidents from Gujarat to now Andhra Pradesh.
BJP Leader M venakiah Naidu has urged the political parties to remain patient and not make this issue a political concern. Referring to the incidents as ‘shameful’, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that we should not give political colour to such incidents. He said, ‘There is a need to create favourable atmosphere in the society so that all sections of the society can harmoniously..’
Attacking the headline grabbing antics of some, Naidu said that we should not work with the objective of hitting the headlines…the mainline is to address the issue and eradicate poverty.
As the Modi govt has constantly been attacked for being anti-Dalits, ‘Venakiah Naidu added that Did atrocities against Dalits start when Modiji became PM? Which party ruled most since 1947?’ He said that opposition makes it a beeline when such icnidents happen in the state run by ruling but when the same happens in states run by them, they remain mum.
Appealing for support and cooperation, Naidu said that ‘Our PM is ‘messiah’ of poor particularly and this is an issue that all of us have to deal with together’.
