Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, had to undergo a “secondary immigration check” in the US and spend two hours at the airport yesterday. Abdullah informed about this in a Tweet: “Another random secondary immigration check upon landing in the US. Thrice in three visits, the randomness is growing tiresome now,” Abdullah tweeted. In another tweet he said, “I just spent TWO hours in a holding area & this happens EVERY time. Unlike @iamsrk I don’t even catch Pokemon to pass the time,” a reference to Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan, who was “detained” in August at the Los Angeles airport, third time in seven years that he had been stopped by US immigration officials at the country’s airports.

Khan had tweeted that while he fully understood and respected security protocols, “to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks”. Abdullah said he is in the US to speak at an event at New York University “but almost wish stayed at home instead”. “Ah well, that’s two hours well & truly wasted!!,” he tweeted.

However, unlike Shah Rukh Khan, Twitterati were not very kind to Omar after they learnt about his plight in the US.

Omar will speak at an event organized by New York University students on October 21.He is expected share the dais with Pervez Musharraf, former Pakistan President, Subramanian Swamy, a BJP leader.
