Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam along with his supporters are staging a hunger strike at the Rajarathinam Stadium in Chennai demanding a CBI investigation into the death of ex-Tamil CM J Jayalalithaa. OPS wants a judicial inqiry into Jayalalithaa’s death through hunger protest that began in the moring at 9 AM and will continue until 5 PM. The strike is taking place at all the party headquaters in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. O Panneerselvam supporters including AIADMK MPs and legislator are taking part in this protest.

Jayalalithaa, who was also known as ‘Amma’ in Tamil Nadu took her last breathe on December 5, 2017, she was taken ill since a long time and was admitted at the Apollo Hospital for over 75 days until her death. In the wake of Amma’s sudden demise, various suspicions were raised by people including members of the Panneerselvam group. After her death, O Panneerselvam was named as the CM of Tamil Nadu but after his resignation from the same post, he remained the caretaker Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu until the appointment of the new Tamil CM Edappadi K Palaniswami. The government of Tamil Nadu made the discharge summary of Jayalalithaa public on March 6 and said, “she got the best medical treatment.”
