The Polavaram project of Andhra Pradesh that was recently given the status of a national project by the Centre will see some timely work being done, courtesy Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The Andhra CM has apparently set a deadline for the authorities to finish the irritgation project by the end of 2018.
In order to make sure the work is happening round-the-clock, the Andhra Pradesh government is installing CCTv cameras at the project site. The monitoring of the cameras will be done directly by Naidu at the CMO in the new Temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati.
The Polavaram project is being constructed in West and East Godavari districts. The CM has directed officials to look into the CCTV surveillance.
He has added for beefed up security at the site. The officials are asked to set up facial recognition and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) bands to identify the work force.
The Polavaram project is expected to make as many as 1,88,000 people lose their livelihood. The 41 per cent in Polavaram mandal and 69 per cent in Polarapadu land will be submerged once the high level irrigation project is completed.
