In a significant move, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government has announced that senior bureaucrat N K Sinha will take over as the new secretary in Information and Broadcasting Ministry, which is under M Venkaiah Naidu while incumbent Ajay Mittal will be shifted as Secretary DoPT. Along with him, 15 new secretaries have been appointed to various central government departments as part of a major top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected today, according to a PTI report.
Subhash Chandra Garg who is currently the Executive Director of the World Bank will soon take over as the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs. Urban Development Secretary Rajiv Gauba has been appointed as the next Home Secretary and he is set to replace Rajiv Mehrishi whose term ends on August 30, on the other hand, Durga Shanker Mishra will replace Gauba as the Urban Development Secretary. Culture Secretary N K Sinha will be the new Information and Broadcasting Secretary in place of Ajay Mittal, who has been moved as DoPT secretary. DoPT Secretary B P Sharma retires this month-end. Aruna Sundararajan who is presently the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will be the new Telecom Secretary. NHAI chief Yudhvir Singh Malik has been appointed the Road, Transport and Highways Secretary.
