Within an hour of being sworn in as the Bihar chief minister for the 6th time, JDU supremo Nitish Kumar addressed the media and said, “My decision is in Bihar’s interest and for its development.” He was speaking after becoming the chief minister again having broken his grand alliance with the Lalu Prasad Yadav led RJD and the Congress party yesterday. He said that the reason for this was because he was finding it impossible to work in the current environment and that the development of the state was suffering.Yesterday, after Nitish dropped resignation bombshell, he revealed, “In the circumstances that prevailed in Bihar, it became difficult to run the grand alliance government.” He cited irreconcilable differences with ally RJD over corruption charges against deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, as per PTI.

JDU leader Nitish Kumar was today sworn in as Bihar Chief Minister for 6th time, in less than 24 hours after he resigned while Bihar State BJP chief Sushil Modi took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. “Development will be a priority, will take Bihar to greater heights,” Sushil Modi said after swearing in as Deputy Chief Minister.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying in doing so he has joined the fight against corruption. Just after Nitish Kumar was sworn in today, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Janata Dal United leader saying Nitish betrayed the people of Bihar. Last night, Kumar met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and staked a claim to form his government with the support of BJP. It has also been reported that Tejashwi Yadav had also met the governor and tried to stop today’s oath taking ceremony, as RJD has the highest number of seats and it should be given a chance to form the government, as per NDTV.
