Speaking on hardened criminal Shahabuddin’s release, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday said that law will take its own course in the issue. During a media interaction after his meeting with Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nitish Kumar said that he doesn’t pay attention to such petty issues. Nitish was reacting to a question asked over former Siwan MP Shahabuddin’s comments on him. Just after his release from jail, Shahabuddin had remarked Nitish as a ‘CM of Circumstances’. The Siwan don had even compared Nitish’s situation to that of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda. Shahabuddin, who had always been an arch critic of Nitish Kumar, said that the latter is not his leader. “Nitish Kumar may be the leader of the House, but he is not my leader, my leader is Lalu Yadav,” said Shahabuddin in an interaction with a TV news channel.
Refusing to react on Shahabuddin’s comment, Nitish had said that former’s comments are not important. However, Lalu had defended Shahabuddin and said that he has said ‘nothing wrong’. Ironically, Shahabuddin’s release from jail was celebrated with much fanfare and has triggered a debate about the law and order situation in the state. The celebrations drew widespread criticism after media reported presence of Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Javed, the absconding suspects in the murder of journalist Rajdev Ranjan. The two were reportedly present in the cavalcade along with Shahabuddin.
