The NITI Aayog is to partner the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government for holistic development to focus on doubling farmers’ incomes, livelihood opportunities, enterprise among other things, ANI reported. Earlier the Chief Executive Officer of the NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant had said that a joint working group of the UP administration and the government think-tank would come together to change Uttar Pradesh, a state that lagged behind in various sectors, despite having a massive growth potential, Indian Express reported. The report also stated that the joint working group which comprised of top officials of the NITI Aayog and the Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has been formed to prepare a plan for the state’s overall development.
According to the Indian Express, Kant said, “Uttar Pradesh has been lagging behind in several areas but there is a huge potential to transform the state. We will work with them (state government) to focus on outcomes of the joint working group.” Kant said this while he was speaking on the sidelines of an industry event in the national capital. Kant said that the focus would be on health, education, infrastructure and tourism and the complete development of the state.
Kant was of the opinion that it was important for the country’s progress that Uttar Pradesh also made serious development as it is a massive state with huge potential. The NITI Aayog CEO was speaking on governance, learning and global experience at the FICCI event and said that a majority of the recommendations by the NITI Aayog on strategic divestment of sick public sector units (PSUs) have been approved by the Union cabinet.
