Just when the political scenario of Uttar Pradesh (UP) was boiling with the party infighting and the family feud between uncle and nephew, Chief Minister (CM) Akhilesh Yadav launched one of its biggest flagship programmes ‘Samajwadi Kisan Beema Yojana’, a scheme aimed at insuring farmers.

Apart from the inbuilt features like cashless treatment of up to Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh for organ transplant the scheme will now have ace Bollywood actor  Nawazuddin Siddiqui as its ambassador to spread the word far and wide.

The beneficiaries will have a plastic card bearing the picture of the chief minister which will have the details of family members covered in the scheme said chief secretary Rahul Bhatnagar.

An agreement with four other government insurance companies have been sealed regarding Samajwadi Farmers Insurance Scheme, added Bhatnagar.

Siddiqui thanked CM Akhilesh for making him brand ambassador of the scheme and recalled that his forefathers were also farmers.

“There was no better way to reconnect with the roots than to spread awareness about the insurance benefits”, said Nawazuddin.

Nawazuddin’s latest movie ‘Freaky Ali’ seems to be doing well at the end of first week where it collected more than Rs 10 crore at the box office.
