National-level shooter alleges coach of rape; FIR lodged following police complaint

Over allegations of raping a national level shooter, an FIR, today, had been registered against the coach, under section 376 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following complaints filed at the Chanakyapuri police station.

Over allegations of raping a national level shooter, an FIR, today, had been registered against the coach, under section 376 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following complaints filed at the Chanakyapuri police station. The shooter, who had been training for the national championships at the shooting range of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), filed the complaint against her coach, for have allegedly raped her.

In a statement to the media, Special Commissioner of Police, MK Meena said, “The police had registered a case of rape against the coach, and investigation on the matter will be carried out as per law.”

The woman claimed to have known the accused for over two years as she had been training with the coach who had, earlier, competed at international levels. Reportedly, the shooter and her coach were in a relationship and the later had promised to marry her.

As per the police complaint filed at the Chanakyapuri PS, the accused spiked the drink of the shooter, with sedatives, when he visited her residence in Chanakyapuri, on her birthday. The woman claimed to have lost consciousness after having the drink and alleged that the coach raped her and refused to acknowledge the incident or the promise to marry her the next day and had also threatened to kill her.

Medical examination, following the police complaint had confirmed the rape of the woman.
