Narendra Modi pays homage to Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad on their birth anniversaries

Along with Chandra Shekhar Azad, PM Modi paid tribute to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak too, on his birth anniversary.

PM Narendra Modi saluted revolutionary Chandra Shekhar Azad on his birth anniversary on Saturday. Modi said, “”I salute the courageous Chandra Shekhar Azad, who won the admiration of countless Indians due to his valour, on his birth anniversary”. Along with Chandra Shekhar Azad, PM Modi paid tribute to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak too, on his birth anniversary. “The great Bal Gangadhar Tilak inspired several people to devote themselves to the freedom struggle. I bow to him on his birth anniversary”, Modi said. Lokmanya Tilak’s efforts instilled a much needed sense of pride and self-confidence, which contributed in shaping India’s history”, he added.

Along with Prime Minister Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee too paid homage to the freedom fighters through her twitter handle. She said, “Homage to freedom fighters Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad and writer Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay on their birth anniversaries”

Chandra Shekhar Azad was born on 23 July 1906. He reorganised the Hindustan Republican Association under the new name of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) after the death of its founder.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born on 23 July 1856. The British called him “Father of the Indian unrest.” He was honored with the title of “Lokmanya”, which means people’s leader.
