Ramjas Row: Indian National Congress party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has joined in the Gurmehar Kaur row blaming Narendra Modi-led government of putting a ‘zubaanbandi’ after notebandi. In an interview with ANI, R Surjewala said, “After notebandi, Modi government now putting ‘zubaanbandi’; Would you be raped for saying ABVP gundas should stop hooliganism?” This comment from Congress comes after LSR student Gurmehar Kaur was trolled and attacked at by many people including celebrities for her facebook post. Her facebook post read- “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone, every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP”
Ever since the post went viral, the 20 year old youth has been receiving rape and death threats to which she replied in an interview, “Rape threats are not OK. Death threats are not OK”. Gurmehar Kaur’s post has exploded a fiery debate of nationalism and freedom of speech among the masses.

Earlier today, Gajendra Chauhan, the chairman of FTII demanded an apology from Gurmehar for saying “Pakistan did not kill my father, the Kargil war did.” Chauhan in an interview with India Today, called Gurmehar’s Pakistan statement objectionable. He wants Kaur to prove that Pakistan did not kill her father and also that she is under politician’s influence. The Mahabharat actor also said, “Jabse hamari sarkaar aaie hai, bahot logon ke pait mein dard hai (Since the time out government (BJP) has come to power, someone or the other has issues with it).”
Unlike other actors, who are trolling Kaur, Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah came forward to support Gurmehar, he praised her and slammed all those who are trolling her and called them ‘insensitive.’
