In a special gesture, Russian Ambassador’s representative on Sunday extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by writing a letter in Hindi. A copy of the letter was Tweeted by Doordarshan. “Adarniya Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Apne Janmadin Ke avsar par kripya meri shubhkamnayein sweekaar karein. Mahamahim Pradhan Mantri Ji, apne rajnaitik anubhav or athak prayaso ke dwara aap vishwabhar mein samman prapt kar chuke hain. Mujhe vishwas hai ki apke netritva mein mitra Bharat or iski Janata vikas ki raah par agrasar rahenge. Bharat ke sath vistrat sahyog ko nayi unchai par le jaane ke liye Roos hamesha tatpar rehta hai. (Respected Narendra Modi Ji, Please accept my greeting on the occasion of your birthday. Honorable Prime Minister, you have been able to gain respect through your experience and indefatigable efforts. I am confident that under your leadership friend India and its citizens will proceed on the march of progress. Russia always remains committed to take its cooperation with India to a higher level).” Modi turned 67 today.

Earlier in the day, a number of leaders across the political parties extended their blessings to PM Modi. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also extended birthday greetings to Modi. “Best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji on his birthday. @narendramodi,” Gandhi said on Twitter. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is celebrating the day as ‘sewa divas’ (service day). PM himself was in Gujarat to inaugurate the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
