Narendra Modi at Sardar Sarovar Dam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the aim to develop new India must be achieved fast and that massive projects like the Sardar Sarovar Dam will go a long way in hurrying the process. He said that starting projects is all very fine, but the most important thing is to ensure they get completed. Speaking at a public rally in Dabhoi, the PM said that all efforts must be done to create a new India by 2022, when the country marks 75 years of Independence. “Let us leave no stone unturned in creating a New India by 2022, when we mark 75 years of India’s freedom”, he said.
Speaking about Sardar Patel, the prime minister, who turned 67 today said the iron Man of India would be very happy today. Highlighting the injustice meted out to Pate, PM said, “Sardar Sahab did not get the credit he deserved after independence, for whatever reasons. The ‘Statue of Unity’ will be a tribute to Sardar and will draw tourists from all over.” “Imagine his vision that he envisioned this dam to help farmers and citizens,” Modi said while adding that even as the project faced several hurdles, his government was determined to continue with the project, ANI said.
The dam will not only help farmers of Gujarat, but will help those from states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. “When even World Bank refused to grant money, temples of the Gujarat came forward to help”, he said as per ANI.
While pointing out that the lack of water resources had been a major factor for slowing down of the development project, Narendra Modi said, “The waters of Maa Narmada will help citizens and transform lives”.
He said that even while the western part of India lacks adequate water supply, the eastern part has the shortage of electricity and gas supply. “We are working to overcome these shortages so that both parts of India scale new heights of development”.
