In a major setback for the Trinamool Congress, the CBI has filed FIR against several of its leaders in the Narada sting case. As the per the report by Times Now, the agency has started preliminary investigation in the matter.
FIR has been filed by the agency against 13 Trinamool Congress leaders which include Madan Mitra, Mukul Roy, Saugata Roy, Sultan Ahmed, Iqbal Ahmed, Kakoli Ghosh, Prasun Banerjee, Suvendu Adhikari among others
Earlier on March 17, the Calcutta High Court had ordered CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry in the case in which several leaders of the ruling party in West Bengal were seen purportedly seen taking money.
The High Court had asked the agency to complete its inquiry within 72 hours. It had also asked the agency to lodge a FIR if needed after the probe is complete. The court had also said the society wants a proper investigation in the case.
The had also court said the case involved Parliament members, ministers and senior government officers of the state, and therefore an investigation by an independent agency was needed. The court had also ordered disciplinary inquiry against senior IPS officer SMH Mirza within 24 hours in the case.

He was seen in a footage, and a website quoted him claiming to be an important person who collects funds for the party.The court had given the order after hearing three PIL seeking an independent investigation in the case that emerged last March when the Narada News portal uploaded a series of video footages purportedly showing a number ofTrinamool leaders receiving money in exchange for favours to a company.
