The Khalistan movement was at its height in the 1980s and 1990s and left a terrible mark on the country and even had the Army enter Amritsar’s Golden Temple to hunt down the terrorirts during Operation Blue Star. This order to the Army to enter the temple had also claimed the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This in turn led to the anti-Sikh riots in 1984.

Mintoo also revealed his links at overseas and said Khalistani Liberation Front (KLF) sympathisers in Germany and Sandeep in England had sent him money through Hawala channel.
