While many people have been talking about the ‘Spirit of Mumbai’ and there are many stories of complete strangers going out of their way to help people caught in the deluge, a story has emerged about the ire and apathy faced by a helpless woman who was stuck due to heavy rains and flooding. The woman, who has been identified as Khushnuma Khambatta, captured her ordeal on camera. The woman who took shelter inside a housing society complex located in Sion was shown abject apathy by the society in-charge who refused to help the woman and even ordered the guards of the society to deflate the tyres of the woman’s car. All of this happened on Tuesday amidst massive water logging caused by heavy rains. The water logging experienced by the city has been since 2005, Indian Express reported.
Khambatta recorded her ordeal and posted the video on social media site Facebook. The video has caused a huge outcry amongst netizens. In the video, Khambatta can be seen desperately pleading with the elderly man to let her stay in the society till the waters recede, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. The society in-charge remained adamant and argued with Khushbu on camera, the insensitive remarks made by the man have also raised quite a few eyebrows, with many people calling him ruthless, as per IE.
