Backing Amar Singh, Samajwadi Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said that the former stood by him in his hard times, The Indian Express reported on Sunday. Mulayam made the statement to defend Amar Singh from the accuse of being the chief catalyst for the ongoing crisis in the party. In a veiled comment, Akhilesh Yadav had said that ‘interference of outsiders’ is responsible for the current infighting in Samajwadi Party. On Saturday, Mulayam Singh Yadav conducted various short interactions with SP leaders, and reportedly scolded them for their unruly conduct. Mulayam also ruled that the decision to appoint Cabinet Minister Shivpal Yadav as Uttar Pradesh state president was final, and should not be questioned.

Late evening, Mulayam Singh held meetings with Shivpal and Akhilesh, after which it was decided that Akhilesh would be appointed chairman of the party’s state parliamentary board. The party may make a formal announcement today, The Indian Express reported quoting sources. The Saturday evening turnouts have signalled a truce between Akhilesh Yadav and Sivpal Singh Yadav camps in the Samajwadi Party.
