Ryan International School Gurgaon murder case: Top Ryan officials held; cops say evidence was tampered

Two top officials of the Ryan International School were arrested today and the acting principal detained for questioning following the gruesome murder of a seven-year-old student on campus, even as the victim’s father moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe. The police claimed that evidence from the scene of crime had been tampered with and said they would bring the guilty to book. Ryan International Group CEO Ryan Pinto and his parents, who are its founders, approached the Bombay High Court today to seek anticipatory bail in connection with the child’s murder in the chain’s Gurgaon school.

Madras High Court upholds order dismissing plea against AIADMK meet

The Madras High Court tonight upheld an order of a single judge dismissing a plea to stay tomorrow’s AIADMK general council and executive committee meeting convened by Chief Minister K Palaniswami-led faction. A Division Bench comprising Justices Rajiv Shakdher and Abdul Quddhose in its order said, “We agree with the conclusion reached by the learned single judge.” Justice C V Karthikeyan in his order earlier in the day had dismissed a plea by P Vetrivel, MLA, a loyalist of sidelined AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran, seeking a stay on the meeting, and imposed a cost of Rs one lakh on him for “wasting” the time of the court.

BJP Yuva Morcha legal notice to Guha for linking Sangh with Lankesh’s killing

The BJP Yuva Morcha today slapped a legal notice on Ramachandra Guha seeking an unconditional apology for linking the Sangh Parivar with the killing of Gauri Lankesh, prompting the noted historian to lament that “we no longer live in Vajpayee’s India”. The notice said Guha made the “utterances” intentionally to bring disrepute to the RSS and BJP with an “ulterior motive” and that the “direct allegations, insinuations and innuendos” impute criminal conduct. It quoted Guha as having said in an interview, “It is very likely that her murderers came from the same Sangh Parivar from which the murderers of Dabholkar, Pansare and Kalburgi came.” It also said Guha had made similar statements in an article.
