Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asked P C Chacko and Ajay Maken to continue working in their posts as the Delhi Congress in-charge and the state unit chief respectively. However, both the leaders reiterated that they did not want to continue to work in their posts. According to reports, another meeting has been scheduled for the next week. It must be noted that both the leaders had submitted their resignations from their respective posts after Congress had fared rather abysmally in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls. Congress had managed to win only 29 seats and had come third in the race against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party.

Meanwhile, Congress had earlier admitted to fighting more on individual lines than collectively. Reflecting on the loss, Congress leader KTS Tulsi had told ANI,”The factual matter is the election on behalf of Congress seems to have been fought more on individual lines than party polling together. This is not private junket or individual enterprise. This has to be done collectively.”

Although Marri Shahsidhar Reddy of the Congres had raised the issue of alleged EVM tampering and had called upon the Election Commission to clear the doubt over it. Reddy had told ANI, “Tampering of EVM is now a serious matter which is being discussed in the light of allegations which were made. I have practically seen this happen in Hyderabad last year during the Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation. These kinds of doubts should be cleared by the Election Commission.” The Congress party had seen some spat and blame game after senior leaders leaving the party to join the BJP and the situation had become worse after the poor show in MCD polls 2017.
