Delhi MCD elections are not far away and incumbent BJP and its bitter rival AAP led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal are gearing up to take control of prestigious EDMC, NDMC and SDMC. Congress is hoping to revive its fortune after hapless performances in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand elections. BJP is the ruling party in MCDs and would like to retain power to send a strong message to AAP. Arvind Kejriwal, on the other hand, is seeking to make inroads into the civic bodies, to shrug off AAP’s poor performances in Punjab and Goa assembly elections.

BJP vs AAP

CM Kejriwal had demanded that EVMs should not be used in these elections alleging that machines were tampered in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. AAP has also decided to show Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s video message in different parts of the city using projectors as part of its campaign strategy. In his message, Kejriwal is seen attacking the BJP-led MCDs for its alleged financial irregularities, and promising a clean Delhi.
