Manohar Parrikar condemns ‘brutal and cowardly’ LoC killings

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday condemned the cowardly and brutal act by Pakistani forces in which three Indian soldiers were killed, body of one of whom was recovered in mutilated state.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday condemned the cowardly and brutal act by Pakistani forces in which three Indian soldiers were killed, body of one of whom was recovered in mutilated state. “Condemn the cowardly & brutal killing of our soldiers & mutilation of one of them. Salute these brave martyrs for their supreme sacrifice,” Parrikar said on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, PTI quoting sources reported that, Vice Chief of Army Lt Gen Bipin Rawat briefed the Minister in detail on the killings in Pakistani action on the Line of Control in Machhal sector of Kashmir. This is the second such incident of mutilation of the body of an Indian soldier on the LoC since October 29.  “Three soldiers killed in action on LC (Line of Control) in Machhal. Body of one soldier mutilated,” the Army said.  It said the “retribution will be heavy for this cowardly act”.

However, The army has said the incident reflects the barbarism pervading in official and unofficial organisations in Pakistan. Pakistani army’s border action team and militants have carried out combined attacks on Indian forces in past.

However, Army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia didn’t specify if the attack was carried out by Pakistani soldiers or terrorist. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was briefed by Vice Chief of Army Lt Gen Bipin Rawat about the attack. PTI, quoting Defence Ministry sources, said Lt Gen Rawat briefed the Minister in detail.
