Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in his 32nd episode of Mann ki Baat programme. In what was his first radio address after completing three years in power, PM Modi talked about a number of issues ranging from the importance of Yoga to making India a clean country. PM started his address by greeting nation on Ramzan and later remembered Veer Savarkar on his Jayanti. Here are 5 major takeaways from his address:
1. Criticism is welcomed
Prime Minister thanked people for closely listening and analysing his Mann ki Baat episodes. “I am very happy people are evaluating our work in great detail. I welcome this. Mann Ki Baat has connected me with every Indian, in a very special way,” PM said while adding that he welcomes criticism that is coming his way.
2. Making India clean
PM Modi once again talked about making India clean again. Prime Minister said that he wanted to make cleanliness a mass movement and thanked people who took time and assessed the work done by the government. He also praised Afroz Shah’s effort who along with his team, cleaned Versova beach in Mumbai.
3. New mass movement
Carrying forward his goal of making India clean, PM announced that government will launch a new initiative under which two types of dustbins will be placed across the various countries. These dustbins will be placed for liquid and dry wastes.
4. Importance of Yoga
Speaking about the importance of Yoga, Prime Minister said it is integrating the world today. He added that Yoga guarantees both wellness and fitness. PM Modi asked three generations of the family to do Yoga together, take a picture and upload it on International Yoga Day.
5. Connect with nature
While mentioning that nature refreshes us, PM Modi said our ancestors conserved nature and we must show the same compassion towards future generations. He said connecting with nature is nothing but connecting with ourselves. He said people should connect with nature to nurture a better planet.
