Aam Admi Party leader and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann has donated his one month salary to Manipur right activist Irom Sharila’s party, a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal donated Rs 50,000. “As a member of parliament m donating my one month salary to Irom Sharmila who is fighting against corrupt system njustice in Manipur(sic),” Mann, tweeted today.

In response, Sharmila’s PRJA party tweeted “Thanks a lot Mann sir for supporting our campaign and believeing in us. We will change Manipur for good.” Sharmila’ party People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) has taken to online for funds and campaigning in bycycle to reach out to voters.

Yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal donated Rs 50,000 to ‘Iron Lady of Manipurt’ Irom Sharmila. He had also appealed to people on Twitter to help her. “I am donating Rs 50,000 as my small contribution to her and appeal to everyone to support her,” he tweeted .

As per reports, online crowdfunding with a slogan “Ten For a Change” is an idea to involve more people, bring in transparency in funding on polls and reach out to public.

The online crowdfunding is in line with PRJA’s call for accountable governance, as when the party was formed, it needed a lot of need for funds, sources within the party were quoted as saying by PTI.

As the country’s eastern state gears up for the assembly polls next month, Irom Sharmila had filed her nomination on behalf of People’s Resurgence & Justice Alliance (PRAJA). While ending her long-lasting fast, Irom had stated on that she wants to find a solution to the problems that people are facing in Manipur.

The ‘Iron Lady of Manipur’ will now be contesting the state’s Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh of Congress for the Thoubal Assembly seat. Her party will be contesting for three seats in the upcoming polls in the 60 member assembly. While major political parties, BJP and Congress had decided to campaign for the election on foot or car, Irom has been campaigning on cycle. Due lack of fund in their newly formed party, Irom has been undertaking online crowd funding to raise funds.
