Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his ambitious housing scheme known as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojna’ in Agra, today on November 20. The PMGAY is a flagship scheme by PM Modi, which is aimed at providing houses to the rural poor, the people living below the poverty line by the end of the year 2022. PM Modi will also distribute allotment letters to 50 beneficiaries, in a bid to provide about 3 crore new housing units all over the country. PM Modi will be addressing a big gathering of BJP supporters in the afternoon and will eventually begin the BJP campaign for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, scheduled in 2017.
There is a change that the PM will have to face some public outrage regarding the demonetisation issue. Following the government’s decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, people have been queueing at banks, ATMs and post offices. While the decision might be the positive factor in the elections as it addresses the black money issue, yet such public inconvenience can go against the BJP too. Meanwhile, there has been reportedly some resistance from the minority committees in the areas as well.
PM Narendra Modi in Agra said that all your sacrifice won’t go in vain. “I had said that inconvenience is going to happen, but I want to commend the people who, despite all that, are supporting.”
“I launched Jan Dhan Yojna so that poor people can open a bank account, ” PM Modi said.
PM Modi says that he will inaugurate the scheme on the land of Agra.
On the Patna-Indore train derailment, PM Modi said that the government will investigate into the matter.
