Blocking ads

Blocking ads
Apropos of the news story “Ad blockers and the nuisance at the heart of the modern web” (FE, August 24), advertisement blocker applications are a boon to the internet users for smooth web surfing. Without it, internet surfing can be worse than a mosquito making your life hell with continuous buzzing in your ears. There are no good or bad advertisements and any type of ad is a nuisance. We wish this kind of solution existed for DTH viewers. Unfortunately, it is not feasible and consumers have to bear with long, annoying ads even after paying high subscription fees to the service providers. The result is that service providers are minting money from both ends and laughing all the way to the bank. Is there a solution?

Global growth is cooling
There is every reason to believe that current global slowdown is going to be a chronic one. No matter what QE or any other measure you implement, given China is deleveraging and the US growth seems too low to assimilate the world’s troubles, kickstarting demand is going to be challenge for every country. So, a deflationary atmosphere will likely prevail globally for now.
