Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today attended the Sajagiri Awards that were held in the state capital Lucknow on behalf of a leading Hindi news daily. While addressing the gathering, the UP CM targeted former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told me that the Yadav did not work in the state. He further said that Yadav only knew how to exploit the state. He added that the “former CM had inaugurated a lot of projects where the work was still in progress. They have misguided the people in a lot of different fields.” Yogi Adityanath further referred to the speech that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi made at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States earlier today and said, “He is talking about the cleanliness of Uttar Pradesh in the US.”
He went on to refer to a Twitter spat that took place with the former CM of the state. Standing his ground and staking a claim to the use of the letter ‘A’, Adityanath, with a smile on his face, said that the letter can only stand for Adityanath and not Akhilesh. He added that Akhilesh can only be active on social media platforms, he cannot be active when he is amongst common men. While talking about the crime situation in the state, Yogi said that the Opposition can sit back and take rest now as everything was being planned for by his government.
Earlier in the week, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh engaged in a Twitter spat with the current CM while claiming credit over the Lucknow Metro project. Before the launch of the metro in the state capital, Samajwadi Party had claimed that the Lucknow Metro project – that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath was to inaugurate that day – was already flagged off by the previous government of Akhilesh Yadav. In the video posted by the CM’s office on Sunday night on its official Twitter handle, CM Adityanath was seen saying that the metro is a gift for the people from the Central and state governments. Claiming credit for the project, Rajendra Chaudhary, SP spokesperson on Monday said that the BJP government should tell people that Lucknow Metro project was started by the previous regime and Akhilesh had already handed over the keys to drivers for the trial run, reported the Indian Express.
