Trying to clarify his earlier remarks on Bihar floods, Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said that Ganges water reaching to people’s doorstep is both good and bad. He also alleged that floods came as a result of Raghubar Das led Jharkhand government unnotified release of Ganges water. The RJD chief said that BJP people were earlier indulged in trading of Ganges water. “I didn’t speak earlier, but now I have to speak, these people (BJP) are trading Maa Ganga’s water. They released Ganga water without notifying us. Water reaching people’s door has both benefits and loss,” said Lalu while talking to reporters.

Raking a controversy, Lalu had on Wednesday said that people are lucky as water is reaching their doorstep, in most of the cases, people have to go for the Ganges water. “It’s fortunate and welcome sight to find the Ganga at one’s doorsteps,” Lalu had said in what seemed a very insensitive comment to many.

Lalu, along with the Disaster Management minister made an ariel survey of flood-hit region of Bihar on Thursday. The state of Bihar is battling with floods despite receiving less than normal rains and the Ganga flowing 23 cm above the extreme danger level mark. So far,127 people have reportedly died due to the havoc caused by severe floods in the state.
