As politics in Bihar heats up again, Lalu Prasad Yadav has locked horns with the Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi by rejecting his request to postpone Sunday’s rally in-light of the severe flood situation faced by the state of Bihar. Lalu will be holding a rally -“BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao” on August 27. Lalu quashed the appeal by saying, ”Sushil Modi shouldn’t try to teach me. Will the floods in the state end if I postpone the rally?” The RJD supremo, in fact, asked the Deputy CM to explain how did the embankments along the river get breached as the state government spent close to Rs 600 crore in the maintenance of these embankments, according to PTI.
It can be said that the flood has played spoilsport in Lalu’s rally as the BJP has already trained its guns to attack him. In Patna, Modi said holding a political rally at a time when 18 districts of the state are facing flood fury and more than 1.5 crore people are affected shows “insensitivity” of the RJD.
It is also evident that Lalu is also losing the other opposition parties support as Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati will not attend the rally. However, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav will join the RJD chief.
The preparations for the rally are in full swing, party workers have in fact put out poster projecting Tejashwi as “Baahubali”– a strongman who can save Bihar on the streets of Patna. Also, the RJD is trying to unite the Opposition parties against the BJP before Lok Sabha elections of 2019. The break up of the grand alliance had an effect of rubbing salt into the wounds as the RJD chief was already being probed by the central agencies– CBI and ED. As of now Lalu is now in all out war against the BJP and is not in a mood to call off the rally.
