The Income-Tax department has summoned the Rajya Sabha MP and daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Misa Bharti and her husband in the money laundering case on Wednesday, according to a report by Times Now. Reacting to the latest development, BJP leader Magal Pandey said Lalu Prasad is the mastermind behind the entire conspiracy and will have to give an answer soon. He added that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is only saving his face now and is not taking any action in this case. The I-T department reacted just one day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested a Chartered Accountant (CA) who had links with Lalu Yadav’s daughter.

Watch the report here:

The CA named Rajesh Agarwal was arrested over his alleged involvement in a Rs 8,000 crore money laundering case. Officials told PTI that Agarwal has been arrested under provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and ED will question him after getting his custody. ED had recently arrested brother duo Surendra Kumar Jain and Virendra Jain through whom the CA transferred funds. Enforcement Directorate had raided Lalu’s properties in Bihar and the National Capital Region (NCR) in order to probe alleged Benami land deal transactions worth Rs 1000 crore. A senior official told the Indian Express that, “Those linked to land deals involving Lalu Prasad and his family are being probed. There are allegations of Benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore and tax evasion.”

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said all the benami properties of Lalu Yadav must be confiscated as it will send a strong message. Earlier, he had said that Nitish Kumar did not take any action against Prasad and his sons as he fears losing power, which he cannot afford. “Kumar compromised with principles, ideology, good governance the day he joined hands with Lalu Prasad,” Modi was quoted saying by news agency PTI.
